Djokovic won’t be able to defend title due to ban :
Novak Djokovic will have to prepare for his exile on Monday instead of starting his title defence at the Australian Open, which also put an unexpected end to his ongoing victory campaign at Melbourne Park. Djokovic has won nine of his 20 Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open.
Djokovic is a three-time champion and was scheduled to play his opening match on the first day night at the tournament’s main stadium, but three Federal Court judges unanimously upheld the immigration minister’s decision to cancel Djokovic’s visa on Sunday. Djokovic has since left for his home country. Djokovic has not been vaccinated for Covid-19 and the government said his presence could raise voices against vaccination.
Nadal has a chance to win the title after a decade :
The Australian Open will not see the magic of Serbia’s Novak Djokovic this time. Thus, two of tennis’s Big Three’ Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will no longer play at the Australian Open this time. With Djokovic and Federer not being there, the responsibility of maintaining the dominance of the ‘Big Three’ is on Rafael Nadal. He first became champion here in 2009. Nadal has to wait a long time to become a Champion for the second time
